University of Notre Dame

North Dining Hall Renovation

South Bend, Indiana // 106,000 sq. ft.

The University of Notre Dame’s North Dining Hall, built in 1957, was last renovated in 1988. The building’s amenities not only required updating, but the University also wished to enhance the look and experience of the dining hall for students and faculty. TowerPinkster designed the renovation to create a more open space allowing circulation to be streamlined and less complex. The furniture was replaced, and the kitchen was updated with modern amenities. The renovations included creating large dining spaces throughout the upper and lower mezzanine seating areas, adding visual interest, and decreasing the vastness of the open dining space.
